[Kuukaku is bandaged up along her forearm, a shallow splash of acidic blood catching her a day ago. She's scraped, banged up, sweaty and exhausted - just like everyone else has been lately. Her fingers are a bit charred with all the kidou she's been flinging around, too.]

So, status report: Everyone still alive or what? I swear, if anyone is dead, I'll wring your fool necks.

So when these bastards have cleared out, sake at my place.

I am unharmed, Kuukaku-san, and have been taking great care to defend the hospital. Though there have, sadly, been casualties among the lower ranks, most of us are managing admirably.

And I am glad to see that you are as well as can be expected after so much combat with these creatures.

I heard that those things got into the hospital. I bet that was a mess and a half. Did they get far?

I'm fine, though. I've been in the Rukongai, trying to find people still alive and get them to safety. We have a few secured locations in the 2nd and 3rd districts right now that are being guarded by Abarai's people and a few volunteers.

Rukongai got hit hard, Unohana-taichou. There's some no man's lands stretching out from the walls to nearly the 4th district. Stuff's just...gone. These people will have nothing to go home to.

Not far, no. Though I did need to fight close range with those that managed to get through. Some, thankfully, I was able to lure out with a pulse of reiatsu before destroying. They did not reach the intensive care units.

I have heard reports of the situation in Rukongai. Would that we had been able to prevent such needless destruction. As soon as I can spare it, I intend to send aid; at least one of my officers has specifically requested such duty. For the moment, however, we are overtaxed due to the siege.

Good to hear. So they can be pulled around by reiatsu? I'll have to remember that.

Any help would be fantastic when you can. I can do yadou when I sit down and have a book to help me, but we dont have the time to do even that much. There's a lot injured people here, we've lost a few pluses to injuries rather than outright being chomped by these things.

Still alive here. Getting tired of all the ugly. I've taken down about sixteen of these damn things--seventeen if you count the one that became two after I split it down the middle... How many have you gotten? Maybe we should start keeping a ledger.

Ah fuck, I didn't even think to keep count. Between making rescue runs into deeper Rukongai, its just been one ass-ugly face after another. Burn 'em with kidou or tear them apart with Hakyouku, I'm just worried about the people out here.

By the way, your men have been one hell of a blessing. We've got a few secure spots in the second and third that wouldn't be possible if not for them. Thanks for sending them out here.

And I swear, if Kensei doesn't sit the fuck down and rest, I'm gluing him to the damn walls of Seireitei myself.

No worries, I'm glad they've been a help to you guys. Wish I could have come lent a hand myself, but I'm sure you guys can handle the situation. I think we've finally taken care of most of the ugly in Seireitei, so once we round up the injured and make sure we've secured things here, I can try and head out to you if you still need the help.

And you have my permission to do just that.

Renji...Renji, Rukongai is completely demolished. Ruined. What are these people gonna do?

I don't doubt it. I haven't had a chance to really get a proper damage report yet, but if the state of Seireitei is anything to draw comparison from, we're gonna have our work cut out for us.

We'll figure something out. Set up some camps with some healers and spare what manpower we can to try and rebuild what's most crucial and most damaged... It won't be a quick fix, but I ain't just gonna let it get swept under the rug.

No offense, but Seireitei had a wall for a while to protect it. Still, this is... this is bad. I dont think I've ever seen something like this level of destruction. I dunno if my own house is still standing in this insanity.

None taken. But you're gonna have to bear with us. I'll help where I can, but fixing the damage in Seireitei has to come first. If the core falls, Rukongai doesn't stand a chance. Wall or no wall, we're in a bad way here, and while I'm sure the damage is nowhere near as bad as it is in Rukongai, we've got quite a mess on our hands, and a lot of casualties.

I'll keep you posted, and try and get out there ASAP. Hang in there, okay?

I'd say I'll rub your back if you rub mine, but I think our hands couldn't really handle it in their conditions. A soak in the hot springs may have to substitute for now.

I have no doubt you'd be able to manage to if needed, though.

Certainly can be if you want it to be. Especially if you don't mind a walk. I know a few hot springs out near the mountains where there wouldn't be crowds to deal with.

Consider it a promise then. If we can eek some sort of breathing room out of this mess some time soon, that is.

I'm holding you to that promise of sake.
